Smardzewski Jerzy

Jerzy Smardzewski is a Full Professor at Poznan University of Life Sciences, Faculty of Forestry and Wood Technology in Poland. He completed his PhD at the Faculty of Wood Technology in 1991 and habilitation in 1998. Dr Smardzewski became a full professor in 2002. His research interests lie in furniture construction, structural joints, wood composites, functional materials, and their implementation in the furniture industry. He has collaborated actively with researchers in several other disciplines of physics, acoustics, materials, wooden structures, and furniture. His scientific achievements include over 390 publications, eight books (in Polish, English, and Persian), chapters in four textbooks (in Polish), and thirty-four patents. Dr Smardzewski was a scholarship holder at the Technische Universität Dresden (1989), Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun´ (2015), and Mendel University in Brno (2022). By citations, he was highlighted four times on the Elsevier list of Top 2% among the most influential scientists (2019–2023). Dr Smardzewski has been the production director at two furniture companies (1997–2006), and he is a member of the supervisory board of the Forte S.A. furniture company.
