Rubens Viana Ramos was born in Fortaleza, Brazil. He received his B.A. degree from the Federal University of Ceará, Brazil, in 1996, the MPhil and PhD degrees in 1998 and 2000, respectively, both from the State University of Campinas, São Paulo, Brazil, all in Electrical Engineering. He was a postdoctoral researcher at the Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden, in 2001, and currently he is Professor of Quantum Information and Optics Communication with the Department of Teleinformatic Engineering of the Federal University of Ceará. He has published more than 50 technical papers in quantum information and optical communication areas, in arbitrated scientific journals.
